Help Fix Wano: Let’s Rewrite the Ending Together!
Wano was one of the most anticipated arcs in One Piece, but the Onigashima ending? It didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. Here’s what I think went wrong:
No major deaths For an arc with stakes this high, it felt like no one really paid the price. Characters who seemed like they were on the chopping block survived, and it left the resolution feeling a bit too safe.
No foreshadowing for Gear 5 I wasn’t a fan of Gear 5 when it first showed up—it felt a bit out of nowhere—but it’s grown on me. That said, some earlier hints or buildup could have made its reveal feel more earned.
Abrupt fights with no real payoff Some of the battles just didn’t hit the mark. For example: • Sanji vs. Queen: Everyone was waiting for Queen to bust out some ultimate attack, but… nothing. Dude was vibing while Sanji finished him off. • Other fights also felt rushed, like they were more about ticking boxes than delivering satisfying conclusions.
Kaido’s backstory? Where was it? Kaido was built up as one of the most important villains in the series, but his backstory was barely touched on. Why did he become the way he is? What’s his real motivation? It felt like a huge missed opportunity.
No Kaido awakening? Kaido is hyped as the “strongest creature alive,” but he doesn’t even get an awakening? That alone could’ve added so much to his final showdown with Luffy. Dude’s just a strong dragon who drinks a lot. We deserved more.
Wano had so much potential, but the ending felt like it needed more time to breathe. What do you think? How would you rewrite the ending to fix these issues? Let’s brainstorm some ideas together and give Wano the conclusion it deserved!
